We are a bicycle racing club based at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. Our club has a reputation as one of Australia’s leading clubs and has produced a number of National, Commonwealth, and Olympic Champions.
### History
The Club was formed way back in 1983 and since then has produced a number of Australian and State representatives.
Yes, over the last 20 years the UNICC has produced many avid sport cyclists as well as cyclists and triathletes of national and international standards. We have been the starting points for athletes such as Jackie Gallagher (World Triathlon and Duathlon Champion), Liz Hepple (Multiple Australian Champion), Juanita Feldham (Australian Representative, Feminine Tour de France Stage Winner), Kym Shirley (Australian Representative), Margaret Hemsley (Australian Champion, Australian Representative), Jack Anderson (Australian Representative), and multiple State champions and representatives such as Michael O’Donoghue, Paul Jackson, and Peter Herzig.
### Disciplines
The club enjoys participation in Road and Track Cycling. We have State and Australian representatives in both, so rest assured you will always find a bunch of cyclists willing to take you under their wing.
Road Cycling is the club’s major focus, however if you’ve always loved watching the Madison or velodrome events where the action unfolds under your nose, then Track Cycling may be for you! The Uni Cycle Club has around 10 members at any one time involved in Track Cycling, with strong representation in the Individual and Team Pursuits, Scratch, Match Sprint and the ‘Kilo’ or 1 Km Time Trial.
Last but not least, we hope to see you out there! Don’t be put off by a bunch of guys and gals in Lycra – come up and introduce yourselves and experience cycling for yourselves!
